Who was Emmi Pikler?
Dr Emmi Pikler (1902-1984), a Hungarian paediatrician, developed her approach while working closely with families and later leading the Loczy Institute in Budapest. She believed that respectful care, autonomy, and trust in babies’ innate abilities were crucial for healthy development.
