Geoff Owen (he/him)

Geoff Owen is an author, speaker and founder of Biologically Aligned Parenting. For more than thirty years he has explored child development, behaviour and the parent-child relationship through both personal experience and extensive study. His perspective was profoundly influenced by raising two daughters. Together with their mother, Geoff made the unconventional decision not to send them to school or follow a formal educational curriculum. Instead, they grew up immersed in family and community life, teaching themselves to read and write before later choosing to enter formal education and going on to university. These experiences challenged many of the assumptions Geoff had been taught about children, learning and behaviour and led him to develop Biologically Aligned Parenting, an approach that views behaviour as a signal rather than a problem to be fixed. Geoff is the author of The Parenting Assumption and ODD: A Non-Clinical Approach to Children Who Say No.
